FIRMITAS are a new procurement and logistics company based in Europe with over 30 years combined experience in the procurement and export sectors throughout Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
Along with their own in-house Design and Project Management Team, FIRMITAS can consult, source and supply for the most complex of projects involving e.g. medical equipment, construction materials and sports and leisure facilities etc.
The team behind FIRMITAS approached dotRUN, based on the strength of our existing logo design work, to create a new logo design and supporting marketing material for this new venture .
Design solution
Company ethos
During our consultation with the client we were able to discuss what led them to choose their company name, and the aims and values behind their new company. It transpired that the name FIRMITAS perfectly suited their goals of being able to provide the highest standard, the best value and the most up-to-date solution, on time within budget and where required, fitted to the highest standard. In other words the old latin meaning of FIRMITAS ‘strength of mind, strength of purpose, persistent effort with an unswerving spirit’ perfectly summed up their company ethos.
With the name firmly in place we were also aware that the logo and brand assets would have to appeal to a European, North African and Middle Eastern sensibility. With this In mind we were careful to keep cultural signifiers in check when coming up with design solutions especially with regards symbols and colour.
The client was looking for a modern, dynamic approach to the logo which we were able to meet in our logo design solution consisting of abstract ‘F’ shapes. These shapes are interlocked to create a stable, strong structure which further emphasise and represent the company ethos. The logo is also versatile enough so that the ‘F’ symbols can be used as a stand alone motif such as is found in the brochure and web design.
The typeface chosen is modern, elegant and uppercase to maintain a harmonious balance between both the name and symbol elements.
Colour
For the colour scheme we opted for a PANTONE Yellow and Black as according to our research of colours in muslim cultures, yellow was attributed with values of ‘strength’ and this perfectly complimented the name and ethos of the company. The colour scheme was also evident in our design of the brochure and website and was used as another way to subtly reinforce the brand. Meanwhile photography from the clients’ own stockpile was carefully chosen to compliment the content and colour scheme too.
Results
The design perfectly encapsulates the clients’ ethos and vision for their new procurement company and is fairly original to make them stand out from other procurement providers in their chosen market.
Designers on the Run were able to exceed the clients expectations and meet their tight deadlines on time and on budget.
The soft launch of the company has now taken place with the full launch of the company expected in the new year.
The client has now entrusted Designers on the Run with further work on other projects.
